Authorization Process Manager enables significantly more efficient, transparent and well-documented processes for setting up and executing SAP authorization tests. In addition, it enables running function tests and integration tests simultaneously with the authorization test – without the risk of delaying any of the tests due to authorization errors.

In the Test Management, SAP authorization test projects are defined and built:
Select Roles: | The roles that are to be tested are added to the project. | Create Users Automatically: | Test users are created automatically for the project based on the selected roles. | Monitor progress: | Both the Authorization Team and the Project Management now have the possibility of online monitoring whether the authorization test is being executed or not. The test progress can be monitored and documented from project level down to user level showing both the transactions that have been tested and those that are still pending. |
In the Test Interface, SAP authorization tests are executed:
Test Execution: | The transactions are executed from a test screen allowing the Tester to monitor the progress of the test. | Authorization Error: | During tests, authorization errors will occur. Without the Authorization Process Manager, an authorization error will block the test – both the authorization test and any other test being executed in the same process. | Authorization Error Workflow: | Instead of calling the standard transaction [SU53], an equivalent transaction is called to identify the authorization error. A workflow is started when the Tester reports the error directly in the SAP® system. The system then automatically logs and saves all the data required by the Authorization Team in order to correct the error. Error reports are more accurate, all reports are displayed in one format and they are stored in the SAP® system. | Update Access in TC: | During the process of reporting the authorization error, the Tester can make the necessary correction directly to the Testers own user role simply by clicking a button. The correction is stored in the Test Container (TC) thereby giving full transparency over what has occurred. | Test Continues: | The test can now continue with a delay measured in seconds instead of hours. |
In the Authorization Cockpit, APM issues reported by Authorization Process Manager are analyzed, corrected and documented:
APM Issue List: | All APM issues are listed in the Authorization Cockpit including the status of each report. | Analyze APM issue: | APM issues are analyzed using advanced but easy to use analysis tools. Use of the analysis tools results in quicker and more accurate corrections. | Correct APM issue: | The APM issue is corrected based on the analyses. | Automatic Documentation: | All corrections made to a APM issue is automatically documented, together with notes registered by the Tester and the Authorization Teams. |
In the Production Support, the productive users can report their SAP authorization errors in the same way as the Testers do, however, they will not be able to automatically update their access:
Authorization Error: | Due to many circumstances, authorization errors can occur for productive users. | Authorization Error Workflow: | Instead of calling the standard transaction [SU53], an equivalent transaction is called to identify the authorization error. A workflow is started when the user reports the error directly in the SAP system. The system then automatically logs. |
View the entire SAP System Landscape from one screen:
In the Authorization Cockpit, the Authorization Team has access to the entire SAP system landscape from one screen in one system. All processes described are executed for all linked SAP systems by logging into the Authorization Process Manager. The SAP Authorization Team now has a complete overview of all systems. This enables them to prioritize the tasks and work more efficiently.
Reporting on the SAP authorization test and the authorization error handling
The Authorization Process Manager generates all the reports required to track the progress of the SAP authorization test and SAP authorization errors. During a APM test project, the reports make it possible to validate progress and prioritize delayed tasks. They can also be used as documentation of the execution of the tests and the correction of all reported errors.
